Doris Kearns Goodwin to Deliver Keynote Address at Dentsply Sirona World 2018

Dentsply Sirona, the Dental Solutions CompanyTM, announced today that world-renowned presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin will present the keynote address at Dentsply Sirona World 2018 on Friday morning, Sept. 14.

Goodwin is the author of six critically acclaimed and New York Times best-selling books, including her most recent, The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism.

Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks Studios has acquired the film and television rights to the book. Spielberg and Goodwin previously worked together on the film Lincoln, based in part on Goodwin’s award-winning Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln.

Goodwin was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in history for No Ordinary Time: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt: The Home Front in World War II, and is the author of the best sellers Wait Till Next Year, Lyndon Johnson and the American Dream and The Fitzgeralds and the Kennedys, which was adapted into an award-winning five-part TV miniseries.

Well known for her appearances and commentary on television, Goodwin is seen frequently on television and cable networks as well as late night and Sunday morning talk shows, including The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Additionally, she played herself on The Simpsons and American Horror Story.

The third annual Ultimate Dental Meeting will carry on the tradition of education paired with entertainment. ROE Dental Laboratory Opens State-of-the-Art Facility in Independence, OH

Choosing to reinvest locally in both talent and technology, ROE Dental Laboratory, a full-service manufacturer of functional and esthetic dental restorations, has relocated its operations to a new, expanded facility in Independence, OH.

The new space, located 7165 East Pleasant Valley Rd, is much larger (40,000 square feet) than their previous location and allows the company to continue its steady growth and increase production capacity. ROE Dental Lab employs more than 100 total employees.

As more manufacturers move operations overseas, ROE Dental Lab president B.J. Kowalski said his organization has chosen to strengthen its ties to Northeast Ohio by providing job opportunities to the local area, while continuing to provide progressive resources to dental practitioners nationally.

First Multiple Sales for the New ProMaker LD-10 Dental Printer

Prodways Group has today announced the first simultaneous order for two ProMaker LD-10s from a front-running North-American dental laboratory. They consider the sale to be symbolic is several respects. It illustrates the successful launch of the new ProMaker LD-10, which was developed by Prodways Technologies in 2017 to expand the MOVINGLight® range to a new segment of dental laboratories requiring industrial machines priced below €100,000. Above all, Prodways feels that it validates the recognition their products have received and the quality of their 3D printing production machines. This is effectively the first time ever that a new client has placed an initial order directly for two machines. The order could be followed by other purchases, depending on how quickly the production gets up to speed.

Comedian Jim Gaffigan Set to Perform at Dentsply Sirona World

Dentsply Sirona Inc, The Dental Solutions Company™, announced today that three-time Grammy nominated comedian, actor, writer, producer, and two-time New York Times best-selling author Jim Gaffigan will perform a private standup act for Dentsply Sirona World attendees in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday evening, Sept. 13.

Known around the world for his unique brand of humor, Gaffigan's standup revolves around his observations on life, including being lazy, bad eating habits, and being a husband and father to five children.

AAE Gears up for 12th Annual Root Canal Awareness Week

The American Association of Endodontists will mark its 12th annual Root Canal Awareness Week, May 6-12, with an array of informative resources showcasing the benefits of root canal treatment from a specialist, or “superhero of saving teeth,” and thanking general dentists for their referrals.

In a recent survey of the public, 48 percent of respondents would make an appointment to see their dentist if they experienced tooth pain. Roughly half of respondents would only wait between two and six days to seek treatment. Twenty-three percent said they would seek treatment that day. Clearly, most people wish to resolve tooth pain very quickly, and endodontists are the ones best equipped to do this.

“Root Canal Awareness Week sends a powerful message about the valuable work that endodontists provide to our dental patients,” said AAE President Dr. Garry L. Myers. “We want the public to feel more empowered to seek out a root canal specialist on their own to combat tooth pain – and we also would like to recognize the important referral relationship that exists between the general dentist and the endodontist. While endodontists are the root canal specialists, general dentists are also a valuable part of our ‘legion,’ and together we make a ‘dynamic duo’ when saving teeth.”

To encourage collaboration between general dentists and endodontists, the AAE offers many free resources, including:

Endodontic Competency White Paper- These AAE guidelines are meant to create a context for knowledge and skill that should provide a standard for all practitioners who perform endodontic treatment.
