Splintek, Inc. Introduces Breathe Aid With Lavender to Improve Deep Sleep

Posted on Wednesday, May 31, 2017

Kansas City, Missouri – May 30, 2017 –Splintek, Inc., the makers of SleepRight and HearRight products, introduces the Intra-Nasal Sleep Inhaler to the sleep market to help improve sleep. It can be purchased in the sleep section at select CVS Pharmacy locations.

More than a third of American adults are not getting enough sleep. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Sleep Research Society recommend that adults aged 18–60 years sleep at least seven hours each night to promote optimal health and well-being. “We addressed the issue of sleep deprivation by creating an intra-nasal breathe aid with lavender crystals to help with relaxation and improve deep sleep,” explained Thomas Brown, CEO of Splintek.

The Sleep Inhaler uses the same patented technology established on the SleepRight Intra-Nasal Breathe Aid and Vapor Inhaler to open the nose 58% to increase airflow and deliver a sustained-release, relaxing lavender scent.  Studies show the benefits of lavender lowers serum cortisol levels, which reduces stress and anxiety and increases relaxation. Lavender improves quality of sleep by increasing slow-wave sleep (deep sleep), which aids in mental performance, memory retention, and restoring energy.

The Sleep Inhaler is reusable for up to 10 days/nights of continuous comfort. The lavender crystals are drug-free, allowing the Sleep Inhaler to be used in conjunction with medications.

Oral Health America Acknowledges Pulpdent's 10 Years of Product Donation Support

Posted on Tuesday, May 30, 2017

CHICAGO, May 30, 2017 – Oral Health America (OHA) graciously acknowledges Pulpdent for ten years of product donations to our Smiles Across America® (SAA) program.

Family owned and operated, Pulpdent is committed to its founding principles of education, prevention and proactive dental care so that people can live healthier and more productive lives. Their interest in public health and the oral health of children has allowed them to help seal hundreds of thousands of teeth across the country through our SAA program.

Through SAA, school-based and school-linked sealant programs nationwide provide preventive oral health services and education to children who may not otherwise have access to regular care. Product donations help these programs serve children most at risk for developing dental caries (cavities) and oral disease. Sealant programs have been associated with reducing the incidence of tooth decay.

“We are grateful to Pulpdent for their continued dedication to OHA and the oral health of children,” said Beth Truett, President & CEO of Oral Health America. “Their interest in helping children live healthier lives is a testament to their organization and their dedication to preventative dental care.”

“Pulpdent's mission to save teeth and promote oral health began with our founder, Dr. Harold Berk, who discovered his passion for dentistry at an early age,” said Leah Berk, Media & Communications Manager for Pulpdent Corporation. “Dr. Berk's commitment to public health lives on through Pulpdent's Public Health Partner Program which provides in-kind donations to organizations worldwide every year.”

OHA’s Product Donation project provides oral health preventive services to our nation’s children, particularly those who are at high risk for developing tooth decay. Product donations are delivered to OHA partners who provide sealant and fluoride varnish treatments to children at schools. Sealants placed in school-based settings are one of only two best public health practices focused on oral health.

OHA facilitates the distribution of more than 500,000 units of donated dental products each year, from sealant and fluoride varnish to toothbrushes and toothpaste. During the 2015-2106 school year, over 336,000 children received fluoride varnish treatments through SAA.

ADA and Collaborators Work Together to Create More Impactful Dental Meetings

Posted on Friday, May 26, 2017

CHICAGO – To create more impactful dental meetings for attendees, guests and exhibitors, several dental organizations are collaborating to combine three significant dental conventions in 2019 and two in 2020.

The American Dental Association (ADA), FDI World Dental Federation (FDI), California Dental Association (CDA) and San Francisco Dental Society (SFDS) will host a joint meeting in San Francisco in early September, 2019. In addition, the ADA and Florida Dental Association (FDA) are consolidating meetings in 2020 while the ADA explores additional similar arrangements for the future.

“Because of the willingness to partner, a number of dental tradeshows will be combined,” states ADA President Dr. Gary Roberts. “This approach makes great sense because it saves everyone time and money. Rather than wonder which meeting to attend or exhibit at, the choice is now easy!”

The ADA has a long-standing policy that encourages state and local societies to work with the ADA as our meeting rotates around the country; and the ADA recently added another optional model to that policy that is already showing positive results. ADA also looks forward to successful meetings in 2017 and 2018 in Atlanta, GA and Honolulu, HI working in collaboration with the Georgia and Hawaii Dental Associations.

In 2019, the ADA will collaborate with the World Dental Federation, California Dental Association and the San Francisco Dental Society to host the FDI World Dental Congress along with ADA 2019. All parties expect a very large turnout at this joint meeting where ADA’s 160th Anniversary and Dr. Kathy Kell’s term as FDI president will also be celebrated.

Dr. Patrick Hescot, current FDI president, noted “the long and fruitful working relationship with the ADA” and that “FDI is excited to combine organizational expertise to produce an engaging scientific program, as well as host what should be one of the largest exhibitions ever seen at FDI’s World Dental Congress.”

“We cannot thank CDA and SFDS enough for our history together and look forward to 2019, 2023 and beyond working collaboratively to create unique and engaging attendee experiences,” said Jim Goodman, CMP, ADA vice president, conferences and continuing education. Combining local, state, national and international dental organizations, along with the many affiliated dental groups, will create a meeting like no other. “CDA is once again proud to welcome the ADA Annual Meeting to San Francisco as part of our ongoing partnership spanning many years,” said CDA President Dr. Clelan Ehrler. “We are excited and look forward to the addition of the FDI World Dental Federation.”

Collaborations will continue in 2020 as the ADA and FDA will host a joint meeting together in Orlando, FL from October 15-18. “The Florida Dental Association is thrilled to partner with the American Dental Association to host ADA 2020 in Orlando,” said Dr. Bill D’Aiuto, president of the FDA and practicing dentist in Orlando. “This will be a great opportunity to shine a light on our state, and we look forward to working together to make this an impactful event.”

All organizations involved in these joint meetings ask exhibitors and sponsors to support all of their meetings, each and every year, recognizing their commitment and willingness to work together in the specific year(s) that ADA holds its meeting in their area.

Aspen Dental Practices Donate to Oral Cancer Foundation for Oral Cancer Awareness

Posted on Thursday, May 25, 2017

Syracuse, NY – Nearly 600 Aspen Dental-branded practices in 35 states donated a combined $30,795 to the Oral Cancer Foundation (OCF) as the result of an oral cancer screening program held in April as part of Oral Cancer Awareness Month.

During April, Aspen Dental practices contributed $5 for each adjunctive oral cancer screening conducted. In total, 6,159 patients were screened. Since 2010, Aspen Dental-branded practices have donated more than $135,000 to OCF.

“The incidence of oral and oropharyngeal cancers has increased again this year, and we estimate that nearly 50,000 Americans will be newly diagnosed with oral or oropharyngeal cancer in 2017 with almost a fifth of those individuals dying from it this year,” said Natalie Riggs, Director of Special Projects for The Oral Cancer Foundation. “Through the work of our partners like Aspen Dental, we are able to prevent further deaths by providing Americans more screenings as well as the resources required to facilitate disease awareness, early discovery, and improve treatments and their outcomes for oral cancer.”

Oral cancer is frequently preceded by visible pre-malignant lesions and can be diagnosed at a much earlier stage (I or II) with adjunctive screenings. When caught early and treated, the survival rate is 80 to 90 percent.

“It is incredibly important we continue to educate our patients about the risk factors, warning signs and symptoms associated with oral cancer so that we can help them catch the disease before it progresses,” said Maureen Howes, vice president of hygiene services for Aspen Dental Management, Inc. “Many Americans don’t realize it but oral cancer screenings need to be as much a part of your routine dental visit as a preventative cleaning from the hygienist, and it is important that all dentists continue to serve as a first line of defense in identifying and diagnosing this deadly cancer.”
