AACD Scientific Session in Las Vegas: Show-Stopping Cosmetic Dentistry Education for the Whole Team

Posted on Thursday, September 15, 2016

MADISON, Wis. (9/15/16) — Did you know the very first AACD Annual Scientific Session was held in Las Vegas at the MGM Hotel in 1984? Now, 33 years later, AACD returns to Las Vegas with a winning approach to comprehensive cosmetic dentistry education. The 33rd Annual AACD Scientific Session will take place April 18-21, 2017, at the Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino.

The AACD 2017 program will feature three unique groups of educators: the Legends, the Illusionists, and the High Rollers, who will impart their wisdom, reveal their techniques, and share their expertise.

On the first day of the conference, attendees will gain confidence learning from The Legends, practitioners who’ve made a name for themselves in the industry, including: William G. Dickerson, DDS; David S. Hornbrook, DDS, FAACD; Larry Rosenthal, DDS, AAACD; William C. Strupp, Jr., DDS, FAACD.

The second day of AACD 2017 will have attendees learning how to achieve highly aesthetic results from the Illusionists, professionals that excel at creating the illusion of Mother Nature. This group of educators features: Howard M. Chasolen, DMD; Harald Heindl, MDT; Bill Marais, RDT; Edward McLaren, DDS; Steve M. Phelan, DDS, AAACD; Kyle Stanley, DDS; Dennis J. Wells, DDS, AAACD.

The third day, conference goers will learn how to achieve predictable results from the High Rollers, colleagues who went all in on technology and won big including: Scott Ganz, DMD; Will Gianni, DDS; Sonia Leziy, DDS; Brahm Miller, DDS; Sadao Sato, DDS, PhD.

A staple AACD offering, Accreditation track courses are available for those interested in starting their journey to achieving clinical excellence and professional distinction. Attendees can officially begin the process of AACD Accreditation by taking the written exam in Las Vegas and can learn more about the Accreditation process by attending the Accreditation and Criteria workshops.

But AACD 2017 has even more educational offerings. Grace Sun, DDS, FAACD, and Chair of the AACD Professional Education Committee explains, “Bringing the AACD Annual Scientific Session back to the entertainment capital of the world is an opportunity for the AACD to truly establish its annual scientific session as the comprehensive cosmetic dentistry education capital of the world.”

To that end, the educational offerings have been greatly expanded: the AACD has partnered with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) to offer a lecture and a hands-on workshop on implants; the AACD has once again partnered with the Academy of Laser Dentistry to provide a laser dentistry competency course; the lab technician track has been extended to two days of first-rate education; and the dental team track has been expanded to include courses for the team every day of the conference.

All of this education will be taking place in the world-class Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino. Host for AACD 2017, The Venetian has been named one of Forbes Travel Guide’s Four-Star hotels for the 13th year in a row, which is a testament to the Venetian’s commitment to unmatched service, luxurious surroundings and amenities.

The Venetian has been called one of the seven “Grandest Hotels in the World,” and between The Venetian and The Palazzo, there are five chefs who have received James Beard Awards for culinary excellence. Plus, Thomas Keller, owner and operator of Bouchon, was named by Time magazine as “America’s Best Chef.” With award-winning lodging, dining, and of course Las Vegas caliber entertainment, attendees may decide to extend their stay.
