Dental Wings Partners With HK on DWLM

Posted on Monday, March 23, 2015

Dental Wings has announced that it has entered into a long-term collaboration with Heraeus Kulzer for the worldwide distribution of the new Dental Wings Laser Milling (DWLM) technology, and the development of Heraeus Kulzer materials that take advantage of this unique process. Together, Dental Wings and Heraeus Kulzer plan to offer groundbreaking solutions to the dental industry that bring meaningful benefits to patients and dental professionals alike.

Integrating a process called laser ablation with closed loop 3D process and quality control, the DWLM system removes material from polymer, ceramic, or glass ceramic blocks to produce dental restorations directly from open .STL data. Among the benefits are greatly reduced operating costs, high-resolution features, and simple-to-use and maintain equipment. The first joint products will be introduced in the first half of 2016.

"I am truly honored that our colleagues at Heraeus Kulzer share our vision for this exciting technology and what it can offer, particularly together with their world-class materials. We feel that combining our strengths will accelerate the adoption of the DWLM technology, which over time will transform how dental restorations are made, and usher in a new era of digital materials,” said Michael Rynerson, CEO of Dental Wings.

Dr Martin Haase, Managing Director of Heraeus Kulzer, added, "Users want to produce durable restorations flexibly and efficiently. This requires that we closely integrate high-quality materials and modern technologies. With Dental Wings, we have a competent partner for this novel laser milling technology who shares our commitment to always be a step ahead."

Novica Savic, Head of Division Dental Materials at Heraeus Kulzer, said, "Laser milling offers interesting opportunities in efficiently and reliably providing patients with digital-produced dental restorations. But even in modern digital prosthetics, the basis for high-quality restorations is still materials aligned to the needs of the dental technology. Our job is to provide these solutions."
