Research: Gingival Bloodflow Around Dental Implants Is Reduced Compared to That of Natural Teeth

Posted on Wednesday, October 9, 2013

Researchers in Japan found that gingival bloodflow around dental implants is reduced compared to that of natural teeth. The study evaluated the basic nature of soft tissue surrounding maxillary anterior implants by simultaneous measurements of blood flow and surface temperature. It analyzed differences with and without bone grafting associated with implant placement to try to detect the signs of surface morphology change.
