Posted on Wednesday, October 9, 2013

ANNAPOLIS, MD, April 18, 2013 — The recent news of infection control breaches is an important reminder for all professionals to understand current guidelines and regulations. The upcoming annual OSAP infection prevention & safety conference June 13-15 in San Diego, CA is an excellent opportunity for those assigned with responsibility for infection control to ensure they are up-to-date and armed with the resources they need to do the job.

As a leading advocate for the safe and infection-free delivery of oral healthcare, the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) is sponsoring a timely conference focused on providing dental professionals with cutting-edge information and up-to-the-minute guidelines, policies, checklists and support in infection prevention. The theme of the 2013 event is Charting a Course for Infection Prevention & Safety.

“Recent infection control breaches provide opportunities to understand outbreak protocols, how to manage complex, rapidly-changing situations and how to better assure compliance with recommended infection control recommendations,” said Therese Long, OSAP executive director. “OSAP remains committed to ensure safe oral healthcare throughout the world, and we urge all dental professionals to stay vigilant. The annual OSAP symposium is a place for us to come together and learn the latest in infection prevention. The course offers up to 18 hours of continuing education credit and the early bird registration rate runs through April 20.”

Hosted at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa & Marina, the program is designed to present cutting-edge information, skill-building sessions and numerous opportunities to learn, share and grow.

The symposium will allow participants to navigate current changes and emerging issues in science, technology, guidelines, regulations, policies, practices and products; explore connections, resources and tools to optimize compliance and advance a culture of safety throughout healthcare.

The symposium welcomes infection control coordinators in large group practices, infection control educators and consultants, risk management professionals, public health professionals, policy makers in disease control and safety, and sales and marketing professionals.

Registration must be made online, and can be accessed by visiting www.OSAP.org and clicking on the OSAP 2013 Symposium link.
