Posted on Wednesday, October 9, 2013

MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)—The First Annual Northern Illinois Oral Cancer Awareness Walk takes place Sunday, June 10th in Arlington Heights. Air Techniques, Inc., a leading innovator and manufacturer of dental equipment, will be a sponsor of the event, which aims to bring awareness to this disease that affects approximately 40,000 Americans per year.

Free oral screenings will be offered at the Walk, which will be held at Lake Arlington from 8:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m., along with information on early detection and prevention.

Air Techniques’ Polaris® Intraoral Camera can assist in early detection by examining the oral cavity for unusual or suspicious sores, lumps, or ulcers in the mouth. “We are proud to sponsor this great event that will address the necessity of early prevention and screening for Oral Cancer,” said Laura Walsh, Marketing Manager at Air Techniques. “As a dental manufacturer, Air Techniques is committed to supporting the dental community and organizations that help improve the standard of care and bring awareness to important topics.”

Register for the walk online now through June 9, or on the day of the event from 8:00 a.m. through 9:00 a.m. The donation is $25 for adults, $10 for kids aged 6-10, and any child under 6 is free. A silent auction will take place during the event with an array of items such as a pair of round-trip Southwest airline tickets and an autographed photo of Sox player Chris Sale. All proceeds will be donated to the Oral Cancer Foundation, a non-profit charity that provides information, patient support, sponsorship of research, and advocacy related to this disease.
