Dental Educators Gather for the 2013 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition

Posted on Wednesday, October 9, 2013

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--More than 2,100 attendees from across the United States and Canada have arrived in Seattle to attend the 2013 American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Annual Session & Exhibition, taking place March 16-19 at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center.

ADEA’s most anticipated and highly attended networking and education event brings together dental education community members for four days of plenary sessions with world-renowned presenters, faculty development workshops, and a Presidential Symposium.

The 2013 Annual Session & Exhibition theme, Landscape of Learning, was established by ADEA President Gerald N. Glickman, DDS, MS, MBA, JD, to encompass key issues and future-oriented concepts in dental education and oral health, while underscoring academic dentistry’s commitment to lifelong learning.

“Over the years, I have come to realize that education is far from finite—it simply does not end after one course of study or after completing dental school,” Dr. Glickman explains. “The sum of dental knowledge is growing exponentially. The future of dental education depends not only on the strength of academic institutions, but also on individuals openness to change and willingness to reflect on how new ideas and innovations will affect the entire landscape of dental education.”

A key event at the ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition was the Opening Ceremonies and Plenary Session, featuring Dr. John Medina, on Sunday, March 17, at 8:30 a.m. Dr. Medina, author of Brain Rules, shared his lifelong interest in how the brain sciences might influence the way we teach and the way we work. The meeting also features an Exhibit Hall with more than 90 of dental education’s premier partners and solutions providers.

Founded in 1923, ADEA is also celebrating its 90th Anniversary this year. Festivities commemorating this milestone are thread throughout the conference to honor ADEA members’ contributions to dental education.

Media representatives are invited to attend, and photos will be available upon request following the conclusion of the event.
