American Board of Endodontics Announces New Officers

The American Board of Endodontics named new officers during the American Association of Endodontists recent Annual Session in Boston. Dr. Alan S. Law was elected president, Dr. Patrick E. Taylor was elected secretary and Dr. Karl Keiser was elected treasurer.

Alan S. Law, D.D.S., Ph.D., of Minneapolis, Minn., earned his Diplomate status in 2000 and was first elected to the ABE Board in 2007. A private practice endodontist in Minneapolis, Dr. Law is an active member of the AAE and currently serves as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics. Previously, he chaired the Regenerative Endodontics Committee and has served on numerous additional AAE committees, including Evidence-Based Endodontics, Research and Scientific Affairs and Clinical Practice. In addition to running his private practice, Dr. Law teaches continuing education courses at the University of Minnesota and at national and international meetings. He received his D.D.S., Certificate in Endodontics and an ad hoc interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Iowa.

Patrick E. Taylor, D.D.S., has been a Diplomate of the ABE since 1994, and a member of the AAE since 1984. In addition to maintaining a private practice in Bellevue, Wash., he is an affiliate professor for the graduate endodontic clinic at the University of Washington. He is a former director of the AAE Board and served as president of the Washington State Association of Endodontists. Dr. Taylor’s research has been published in several scientific journals, and he currently serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Endodontics. He received his D.D.S. from the University of California at San Francisco in 1977, and his Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Washington in 1988.

Karl Keiser, D.D.S., M.S., is an adjunct associate professor in the department of endodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Keiser received his D.D.S. from Indiana University in 1981. After 12 years of maintaining a general dental practice in New England, he completed his endodontic residency at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1995, and earned a Master of Science degree from the Horace Rackham School of Graduate Studies in 1996. Prior to joining the faculty at UTHSCSA, Dr. Keiser was the director of undergraduate endodontics at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. He is a recipient of the Edward M. Osetek Educator Award from the AAE, and the Charles Craig Teaching Award from the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society. Dr. Keiser has been a Diplomate of the ABE since 2001 and maintains a private practice limited to endodontics in New Braunfels, Texas.
