August 23, 2012 -- Advocates for dental anesthesiology have embarked on the difficult process of getting it approved as the 10th ADA-recognized specialty, according to DrBicuspid.com. The 2012 ADA House of Delegates will decide whether to approve it in October during the ADA Annual Session in San Francisco.
However, the American Association for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) feels that having a specialty in anesthesia would “change the dynamics” of the dental profession, according to the article.
