The American Dental Association (ADA) is accepting nominations for the 2013 Norton M. Ross Award for Excellence in Clinical Research. The deadline for nominations is June 14.
The ADA sponsors the Norton M. Ross Award with support from Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products, Division of McNeil-PPC Inc.
Established in 1991, the annual award commemorates Dr. Norton M. Ross, a dentist and pharmacologist who spent most of his career in academic and research positions. It recognizes investigators whose clinical research has influenced some aspect of clinical dentistry in a meaningful way, according to ADA News.
"The Norton M. Ross Award was established to recognize investigators whose clinical research has had a meaningful impact on clinical dentistry," said ADA President Robert Faiella.
"We are honored to sponsor the 23rd Norton M. Ross Award that celebrates achievement and leadership in clinical research," said Madeline Monaco, PhD, senior director of Global Scientific and Professional Affairs, Johnson & Johnson Consumer & Personal Products Worldwide Division of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies Inc. "This award aligns well with Johnson & Johnson's Credo values and caries on Dr. Norton Ross' legacy of elevating clinical research to the highest standards towards the goal of improving public health."
The 2013 recipient will receive a $5,000 honorarium and a plaque. Since the award's founding, 22 investigators have received the honor. Dr. Peter Milgrom was the award recipient in 2012.
