cubeX2 Cubic Zirconia

The next evolution in zirconia maximizes translucency and strength

Dental Arts Laboratories, Inc. announces an innovative new restorative material ideal for today's dentistry–cubeX2 Cubic Zirconia. The new cubeX2 material combines the known positive properties of zirconia with a significant increase in translucency (49% translucency), making it ideal for anterior and posterior applications (single units and 3-unit bridgework in all tooth positions). Highly biocompatible, cubeX2 offers the translucency of a lithium disilicate while retaining the strength of zirconia (720 MPa of flexural strength).

The New cubeX2 Cubic Zirconia Molecular Structure

cubeX2 is a highly translucent zirconia with a new molecular structure that allows light transmission previously unknown with zirconium oxides. The cubic/tetragonal microstructure, to which the material owes its characterization as "cubic zirconia," is responsible for its extremely high translucency.

The cubeX2 cubic molecular structure system is based on a 5-mol% yttria oxide, which leads to a stabilization of approximately 53% cubic and 47% tetragonal crystal structure. In this cubic zirconia 5Y-TZP molecular structure, there is a larger cubic volume, and transparency and stability are both vastly improved.

Convenience of Conservative Preparation and Cementation

cubeX2 requires less tooth preparation than is required for lithium disilicate. Ideally, a 0.8-mm chamfer or rounded shoulder prep is preferred; however, a feather-edge margin is acceptable. The required occlusal reduction is between 1.0 and 1.5 mm.

Conventional resin-modified glass ionomer cements are recommended when adequate retention is present (4 mm or longer) or resin cements for short or tapered preparations.

Designed Specifically for Today's Dentistry

Both dentists and patients love the translucency and the warm chameleon effect that cubeX2 exhibits intraorally. Dr. Leonard Hess, senior instructor of the Dawson Academy, shares his opinion of this new material: "In my practice, monolithic zirconia is here to stay. However, due to its lack of translucency, it has been primarily indicated for posterior applications. Finally, the wait for a zirconia product that has both superior esthetics and strength is now over. cubeX2 Cubic Zirconia is my new first choice for a monolithic material in all tooth positions."

The combination of precision milling technology along with the enhanced translucency and the resultant exceptional life-like esthetics of cubeX2 Cubic Zirconia make it the dominant restoration of choice for both anterior and posterior applications.

In Brief

• The cubeX2 cubic molecular structure (720 MPa) creates a new category of zirconia that features maximum translucent esthetics and outstanding stability and strength.

• cubeX2 is precision milled in just 5 working days at a flat rate cost of $109/unit.

• The final result…you no longer need to choose between lithium disilicate and conventional zirconia when cubeX2 provides both beauty and strength.
