DentalEZ Launches Intelligent Aeras Technology

Posted on Friday, February 21, 2020

DentalEZ® is launching a new IoT product platform called Aeras™ that supports the company’s mission to address real, everyday challenges in dentistry. Simply put, DentalEZ is redefining what smart means in the practice of dentistry by leveraging technology to allow the dentist and staff to provide truly superior patient care through practice efficiency and new standards of care.

Focused first on restorative care, DentalEZ will continue innovation moving forward.

The new Aeras 500 Elite dental handpiece offers unprecedented power and is the only air driven handpiece capable of cutting through the latest high-strength ceramic materials with confidence, safety and ease. This is essential to the dentist and patient who want to minimize the amount of time and discomfort involved in dental work. Additionally, the Aeras 500 Elite holds exclusive patent-pending RFID technology that unlocks new possibilities for complete practice interconnectivity that reduces the burdens of traditional record keeping, thereby, enhancing productivity for the entire staff.

DentalEZ President Heather Trombley is proud to be leading this change in direction for the Company. “DentalEZ has always been known for reliable products, but I knew our team could do more,” she states, “We set out to make it easier for oral health care professionals to deliver better patient outcomes, and the launch of Aeras starts to fulfill this mission.”

The new Aeras dental compressor is enabled with the latest cloud-based technology that offers active monitoring with data streaming from embedded sensors relayed to the right persons at the right time. This can prevent unwanted downtime and also enables control of the compressor remotely. This means the dentist and staff need not worry about its operation and patients won’t be inconvenienced by an unplanned issue. Trombley states, “When technology can save energy, reduce waste, and minimize disruptions for more focus on patients, that’s smart. DentalEZ is committed introducing technology that translates into a better experience the moment the patient sits in the dental chair. That is what we are striving for.”

Easy Denture®, Benco Dental Put Affordable, One-Visit Dentures Within Reach of Millions

Posted on Thursday, February 20, 2020

Innovative dental startup aligns with the nation’s largest independent dental distributor to deliver a solution as simple as boiling water.

Forty million people. For the 14 years since they began practicing dentistry, that number has motivated Drs. Misael and Lindsey Otero to innovate.

According to the Center for Disease Control, in the United States, approximately 40 million people are edentulous – without teeth. This Wilmington, North Carolina-based dental duo resolved to create a solution and today, with Benco Dental, present one that’s a simple as boiling water: Easy Denture.

To address what he describes as a void in the health care system, Dr. Otero said they created this new category in custom dentures. How does it work for a dental patient? Dip Easy Denture in boiling water for 60 seconds. Cool for the same amount of time. Align in the mouth and create a seal for 90 seconds. Place denture in cold water to set for 30 seconds. That’s all there is to it. One visit and done.

“What keeps me motivated is to think that with Easy Denture we could potentially be responsible for putting more smiles on more faces than any other dentist or company or institution,” said Dr. Misael Otero.

Currently, the process to obtain custom dentures can include three visits to a dental office, three weeks of wait time and upward of $3,000. Easy Denture removes the hurdles with a five-minute process at one tenth of the cost – just several hundred dollars.

“Easy Denture is not a replacement for a high-end cosmetic set. It’s an amazing, perfect solution for an immediate denture, a great replacement for an economy denture.” He also recommended Easy Denture as a transitional or backup denture and as an option for caregivers of those limited by transportation and time constraints.

Reheat. Reform. Reinvent. ™ is the concept behind the Oteros’ company, Sonrisa, which aligns with Benco Dental, the nation’s largest independent dental distributor to share this solution.  Benco Dental, headquartered in Northeastern Pennsylvania, is the largest independent dental distributor in the United States, driving dentistry forward through innovative solutions and a caring family culture. Benco delivers a full array of supplies, equipment, technology and services to dentists nationwide.

“Easy Denture breaks down insurmountable barriers to care for potentially millions of patients worldwide. Until now, the choice was too often traditional dentures or nothing at all in cases where people cannot afford them, or cannot make the multiple office visits necessary to get them. Easy Denture offers a next best thing: an effective, practical alternative that brings treatment within reach,” said Mike DePietro, Benco Dental's Marketing Product Manager for Easy Denture.

Realizing the gap in adequate health care access is a global problem, Dr. Otero takes heart in the far-reaching possibilities for Easy Denture as a change agent. “I think there is a huge opportunity to help here with mission trips. With Easy Denture all you need is boiling water. Hot water, 10 minutes, and every dental patient can walk out with teeth,” said Dr. Otero.

ARM & HAMMER™ Launches New Essentials Toothpaste to Dental Professionals

Posted on Thursday, February 20, 2020

“The Right Amount of Natural”—ARM & HAMMER™ Essentials Toothpaste is Made with 100% Natural Baking Soda and Clinically Proven Benefits

For more than 170 years, ARM & HAMMER™ (Church & Dwight Co., Inc.) has been the original baking soda toothpaste brand for professionals and consumers alike. Now, they are extending their purity standard once again by adding new Essentials Toothpaste to their existing Essentials product line.

In addition to cleaning and cooking, baking soda has always been the go-to ingredient for healthy oral care. To prove just how powerful its clinical benefits are, The Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA) published research on baking soda toothpaste. JADA confirms “the results of the literature show that baking soda-containing dentifrices are ideal candidates to be considered as a universal dentifrice.”1 Further clinical studies support that ARM & HAMMER™ Baking Soda Toothpastes remove up to 5X more plaque in hard-to-reach areas versus a non-baking soda toothpaste2; neutralize plaque acids fast with a pH of about 8.43; and have greater stain reduction versus a non-baking soda toothpaste4*.

New ARM & HAMMER™ Essentials Toothpaste is the latest oral care solution from the iconic brand and is made with just the right amount of natural. This means it has all the great benefits of 100% natural baking soda combined with clinically proven benefits. This includes fluoride for caries prevention and naturally sourced calcium for repair of the enamel surface: the essentials. It is also free of sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), peroxide, preservatives, parabens, artificial sweeteners, and dyes. The new toothpaste variety offers two options for dental professionals: ARM & HAMMER™ Essentials Whiten & Strengthen Fluoride Toothpaste and Essentials Healthy Teeth & Gums Fluoride Toothpaste.

Dental professionals can stop by booth #2802 at Chicago’s 2020 Midwinter Dental Meeting on Thursday, February 20th—Saturday, February 22nd to learn more about ARM & HAMMER™ Essentials Toothpaste, or visit www.armandhammer.com.

About Church & Dwight Co., Inc.

Kuraray Noritake Announces New KATANA™ Cleaner

Posted on Thursday, February 20, 2020

Introducing the All-purpose, Universal Cleaner for Extra-oral and Intra-oral Use on Tooth Structure and Prosthetics

Kuraray Noritake has once again reinvented a dental category by launching its latest innovation: KATANA™ Intra-oral and Restoration Cleaner.

One common problem encountered during the trial fitting of a restoration is the weakening of bond strength after cementation. This happens as a result of contamination from saliva and blood in the oral cavity. With new KATANA Cleaner, this obstacle is virtually eliminated, thanks to its thoughtful formulation. KATANA Cleaner has a high cleaning effect due to its surface-active characteristic MDP Salt, and has a low pH value of 4.5 that enables use extra-orally and intra-orally.

KATANA Cleaner is a true all-purpose, universal cleaning agent indicated for tooth structure, including cavities, abutments, and root canals; and prosthetics, such as ceramics, resin-based materials, metals, and posts. Workflow with KATANA Cleaner is easy and fast, allowing clinicians to use it with confidence in just about any case. All it takes is two steps before cementation: (1) Apply and rub KATANA Cleaner and (2) rise and dry. Additionally, KATANA Cleaner only takes 10 seconds of rubbing time, unlike other cleaners that require more time.

“Kuraray Noritake has created the ultimate cleaning agent in KATANA Cleaner,” says Dr. Matt Nejad. “Other products I’ve used in the past weren’t as effective and left my bond strengths compromised.” When asked what differentiates KATANA Cleaner from other cleaning agents, Dr.Nejad continues, “KATANA Cleaner has an active ingredient of MDP Salt, and that’s what really makes the difference vs cleaners that use Sodium Hydroxide or Potassium Hydroxide. The MDP Salt gives KATANA Cleaner its high cleaning effect and helps keep bond strengths sturdy and reliable for my peace of mind and patients’.”

“Kuraray Noritake has transformed itself into what it is today: a multidimensional business entity with the high caliber to offer products and technologies to a wide range of industries,” said Dr. Dinesh Weerasinghe, Senior Technical and Marketing Manager at Kuraray Noritake. “We are committed to our partnership with the dental community and will continue to serve them with innovative solutions that help them provide better care to their patients. KATANA Cleaner is yet another solution professionals can rely on for strength, efficacy, and the ability to perform as a true universal cleaning agent in dentition or prosthetic cases.”

About Kuraray Noritake

KATANA™ Cleaner is the latest innovation from Kuraray Noritake Dental Inc., a company formed from the merger of Kuraray Medical Inc. and Noritake Dental Supply Co. in April 2012. Building on the combined strength of these two multinationals, Kuraray Noritake Dental aims to create world-leading synergies across product development, production, and sales. The company benefits from exceptional expertise in organic and inorganic chemistry leading to the development of further high-end dental products—from ceramics to composites and even bio-materials. Kuraray Noritake Dental believes that a patient’s smile is more important than anything else. As such, the company has always sought to inspire the dental profession by introducing minimally invasive and bio-additive solutions, both now and in the future, resulting in patients being able to enjoy their teeth for a lifetime.
