Thorne, IV, BA, MHA, will join an esteemed panel of industry thought-leaders during the 2019 Greater New York Dental Meeting (GNYDM). On Tuesday, December 3rd, Mr. Thorne will join Dr. Jack DillenbergDr. Othman Shibly, and Dr. Kris Volcheck for the “A Pathway to Health Equity Globally” program. Taking place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, the prestigious panel will speak to the growing need for oral health care for the millions of adults and children around the world who live without it.

“I’m thrilled to have Pacific Dental Services’ Founder Stephen Thorne join our second annual public health symposium at the GNYDM,” said Dr. Dillenberg, who serves as the symposium’s chairman. “One of our programs, ‘A Pathway to Health Equity Globally,’ will provide valuable insight about the importance of health equity. For years, Mr. Thorne and the Pacific Dental Services Foundation have dedicated their time and resources to help people in Guatemala, Fiji, and Ethiopia receive the dentistry they desperately need.”

In addition to discussing the importance of access to care, the panel will also address how not-for-profit groups and health providers can positively impact the overall health of at-risk people globally, as well as the value of participation in humanitarian efforts to improve the health of those unable to access health care services.

“I’m thrilled to be part of this panel at the Greater New York Dental Meeting,” said Mr. Thorne, whose commitment to service is embedded in both his professional and personal life. “There is a critical need for health equity and I’m excited to join everyone in New York for this important discussion.” In addition to being the founder of PDS, Mr. Thorne was also instrumental in forming the Association of Dental Support Organizations, which represents some of the largest DSOs in the world. He’s also a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board for Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he helps drive their ambitious agenda to integrate oral health and medicine.
