Stamford, Conn. – This World Oral Health Day (WOHD), Royal Philips is proudly teaming up with FDI World Dental Federation to educate and encourage people around the world to take a smart approach to the health of their mouth, teeth and gums.
Oral disease affects 3.9 billion people worldwide[1], and with untreated tooth decay impacting almost half of the world’s population (44%), World Oral Health Day is an opportunity to educate and encourage people around the world to better understand the state of their oral health.
“We know that globally, 60–90% of schoolchildren and nearly 100% of adults have tooth decay, often leading to pain and discomfort,” said Jennifer Lalli, Team Lead OHC Dental Professional, US. “Poor oral hygiene is a key driver for this, and we work closely with dental professionals to help patients of all ages recognize when they might need to give their oral care a bit more attention. World Oral Health Day is a great opportunity to do this on a mass scale and discuss how oral hygiene impacts oral health and overall wellness. ”
FDI’s 2017 World Oral Health Day campaign ‘Live Mouth Smart’ looks to encourage people worldwide to take control of their oral health – throughout their lifetime – so that they can enjoy a healthy mouth from childhood into old age.
