MINNEAPOLIS--()--Students across America will be traveling abroad as the school year comes to a close. But, few students and their parents are protecting these youth with international identification cards that can provide safety measures of insurance and funds for emergency evacuations, an emergency hotline, as well as travel discounts.
ClearCause Foundation is teaming up with STA Travel as an issuing office of the International Student (ISIC), Youth (ITYC) and Teacher (ITIC) Identification, Discount, Insurance and Debit cards. All proceeds from the sales of the cards will benefit the mission of ClearCause Foundation to protect millions of children who travel the world each year.
These internationally-recognized student IDs are endorsed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and associated with the World Youth Student Travel Confederation (WYSTC). The cards are vital to the safety of children who travel abroad because they provide, among other key benefits, $25,000 in health and dental insurance and $300,000 for emergency evacuations.
“So often America’s next generation of world leaders go abroad uninformed, cash-strapped and under-insured. If your child is injured or ill abroad, ISIC is like a parachute that can help get them the best possible care and bring them home safely,” said Sheryl Hill, ClearCause founding director and international safety advocate.
The cards have another important safety feature – an emergency helpline that a child can call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from anywhere in the world toll free. In addition, the cards have a MasterCard debit feature.
“Parents and other loved ones can give the best graduation gift this year, a gift toward safety,” said Hill. “More than four million users love this card because they receive great deals from more than 40,000 vendors in more than 100 countries, like Target, Macy’s, Microsoft, and more. We love this card because it can save lives. I hope no young American between the ages of 12 and 26 or any full time student ever leaves American soil without one.”
Although there are millions of global cardholders who have reaped benefits for decades, fewer than 175,000 Americans use the card, primarily because it has historically been marketed to study abroad offices at universities.
There is no charge to be listed in ISIC’s directory. Businesses simply discount their product or service to students.
Other benefits of the International Student IDs include:
Affordable international mobile phone and a calling card discount communication packages with free incoming calls in some countries;
Premium insurance upgrade for $60 more to $100,000 health and dental, $1 million emergency medical evacuation, $2,000 personal property and more;
Concierge Services; Recommendations on entertainment, hotels, and transportation.
