New Innovative Discs/Handpiece
KOMET USA has introduced a revolutionary new disc/handpiece system designed to be used in both cosmetic dentistry and orthodontic procedures for proper interproximal enamel reducing and finishing.

Developed in conjunction with Professor Dr. Jost-Brinkmann of the Berlin Charité Dental Hospital in Germany, the OS (oscillating segment) Discs are the first of its kind in the dental industry. OS Discs are safe and efficient for interproximal enamel reduction. OS Discs are 60° segmented with a radius of only 1.4 cm and a pivoting angle of 30°, allowing access into tight spaces with excellent user control. The OS Discs are more effective than manual enamel reduction with no risk of injuring the soft tissue. The OS Discs allow enough vision for the user without the need of a disc guard and provide optimal chip removal.

The OS Discs are designed to be used in the oscillating KOMET electric handpiece OS30. When using the micro-motor at full capacity, an effective performance of 5,000 oscillations per minute is reached. It is also possible to use the OS30 in an air motor; and at the motor’s maximum capacity, an effective performance of 2,500 oscillations per minutes can be reached.

KOMET USA developed 15 different OS Discs to be used with OS30 handpiece—nine with fine-grit diamonds and six with medium-grit diamonds. Out of the 15 OS Discs, eight are one-sided and seven are two-sided, and come in various thicknesses (0.13 mm to 0.45 mm).

Ivoclar Vivadent Introduces SpeedCEM®
Ivoclar Vivadent announces the introduction of SpeedCEM®, a dual-curing, self-adhesive resin cement for the quick and easy cementation of “high-strength” indirect restorations, such as those fabricated from metal, metal-ceramic (eg, porcelain-fused-to-metal), high-strength ceramics (eg, zirconia, lithium-disilicate), and fiber-reinforced composites. This new resin cement eliminates the need to condition the tooth preparation and the use of dentin/enamel bonding agents. As a result, SpeedCEM® provides a faster and more efficient way to cement high-strength restorative materials.

SpeedCEM is applied directly through an automix syringe, eliminating the need for additional mixing devices and applicators and is available in three shades.
