Volume 43 eBook 11
This Compendium eBook offers a continuing education (CE) article that examines how clinicians can enhance biopsy techniques with the use of a dental laser. Also included in this eBook is a case report article, highlighting two case studies, on the use of a crosslinked collagen membrane in combination with a dehydrated amnion/chorion membrane to improve treatment outcomes after guided bone regeneration procedures. CE: Guidelines for the Biopsy of Oral Mucosal Lesions Using a Laser Christopher J. Walinski, DDS; Keng-Liang Ou, MS, PhD; Tracy M. Liang; and Duane R. Schafer, DDS, MS
Dental lasers are increasingly being used to harvest soft-tissue biopsies. Deficiencies associated with the use of a dental laser to collect a proper sample are related mostly to either insufficient tissue for diagnosis or other tissue artifacts, specifically thermal artifacts. This article is aimed at assisting clinicians in enhancing biopsy technique when using a laser. Credits: 2 Self-Study CEU Cost:$0 Provider:AEGIS Publications, LLC
Use of a Sugar-Crosslinked Collagen Membrane in Conjunction With a Dehydrated Amnion/Chorion Membrane for Guided Bone Regeneration Around Immediate Implants Matthew J. Fien, DDS; Israel Puterman, DMD, MSD; Juan Mesquida, DDS; Ferran Llansana Fitó, DDS; and Guillermo Bauza, PhD
The aim of this article is to present a technique to perform GBR with the use of a sugar-crosslinked absorbable collagen membrane in conjunction with a dehydrated amnion/chorion membrane (dHACM). This technique can be used to perform GBR at the time of tooth extraction and for ridge augmentation of an edentulous site in preparation for future dental implant placement.
