FEATURED CONTENT

CE: A Clinical Approach to Treatment of Retrograde Peri-Implantitis
Thomas G. Wiedemann, MD, PhD, DDS
The experienced implantologist and the general dentist alike benefit greatly by understanding the various treatment options for the complications, both common and uncommon, that may occur following implant placement. This CE article explains the treatment of retrograde peri-implantitis (RPI), a rare complication of implant placement that may interfere with implant survival. Because there is currently no consensus for the treatment of RPI, the author provides the results of a literature search, reviewing the various treatment options for RPI to help bring clarity to the practitioner regarding this often confounding inflammatory condition.

Improving Free Gingival Graft Success Around Implants Using a Completed Implant Restoration
Anna Corinna Lim, DMD; Eduardo Gonzalez de la Torre, DDS; Sang-Choon Cho, DDS; and Stuart J. Froum, DDS
This case report describes a novel approach for improving free gingival graft immobility around implants using a completed implant restoration. While immobility is essential to soft-tissue grafting procedures, free gingival grafts may become immobilized in certain circumstances, such as in the absence of attached gingiva. This case report demonstrates a favorable outcome with the technique described in this article.
