News on the University of South Dakota Department of Dental Hygiene students engaging in service-learning activities, the top ten series poll question on one thing you can’t live without as a dental hygienist, and a Continuing Education article on dentin hypersensitivity.

I’m Tiffany Stark and you’re watching IDH Weekly on Aegis TV. Students at the University of South Dakota Department of Dental Hygiene engage in service-learning activities as part of their hand-on learning curriculum. Students volunteer their time to offer free dental services at program-sponsored events to aid their learning while giving back. Service-learning has not only become a critical piece in the dental hygiene curriculum at USD, but it has also become a valued resource across the state, specifically in communities that experience gaps in care. Throughout their junior year, dental hygiene students see patients at an on-campus clinic. When they are seniors, they travel to outreach sites that are oftentimes located in underserved communities. Congratulations to the USD dental hygiene students for all their hard work. We recently announced our top ten series dedicated to our loyal audience and readers. We will be polling our audience here and on social media to discover what matters to you as a hygienist and will feature the top 10 answers in each category during upcoming episodes. This week we want to know one thing you can’t live without as a dental hygienist.
