Dental Assistants Who Are Certified Earn Higher Salaries, Study Says

Posted on Monday, June 8, 2015

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 08, 2015 - According to DANB's 2014 Salary Survey,* full-time dental assistants who hold CDA certification earn a median salary of $19 an hour, nearly $2 more per hour than non-certified dental assistants.**

According to the survey, CDA certificants receive numerous other benefits, including paid holidays (76%), paid vacation (75%), 401(k) or pension plans (59%), free dental care (52%) and paid sick leave (50%).

Beyond monetary rewards, those surveyed reported that certification benefited them personally and professionally — including greater pride, increased knowledge, greater confidence, and standing out from others when applying for a job.

DANB’s Salary Survey also shows that dental assistants who hold CDA certification are an educated group, with 91% holding at least an associate degree or completing some college. Additionally, DANB certificants are professionals. Those surveyed have been in their current position for more than seven years and in the field for nearly 14 years – demonstrating employer loyalty and a commitment to the profession.

DANB certificants report high levels of career satisfaction and see value in professional certification. Of those surveyed, 99% plan to renew their CDA credential.

Earning DANB certification can be a career boost, especially for those who are trying to stand out when applying for a new job. Of those surveyed, 98% would encourage others to earn DANB certification.
