Oral Health America Continues National Communications Campaign

Posted on Wednesday, October 9, 2013

October 30, 2012, Chicago, IL—Oral Health America’s annual Fall for Smiles® campaign encourages American families to keep their mouths healthy by brushing and flossing, visiting the dentist regularly, making healthy food choices, and avoiding tobacco. The campaign began in September and ran through October and features several ways for dental professionals and the general public to get involved. This campaign would not have been possible without the support of dental companies, associations and organizations, including Hu-Friedy and OralDNA Labs.

Hu-Friedy sponsored this year’s children’s coloring sheet which was distributed to 100,000+ dental offices across the county. Hu-Friedy also hosted an internal coloring contest among employee’s children (or nieces, nephews, grandchildren, etc.)  appointing their graphic design team to choose the winning artists. Winners received a plush Nevi doll and had their art displayed on Hu-Friedy’s Pinterest page for all to enjoy. Congratulations to the contest winners!

"Hu-Friedy is proud to partner with the third annual Fall for Smiles campaign because it aims to educate the public about the importance of maintaining good oral health," said Patrick Bernardi, Vice President, Global Brand Marketing and Communications at Hu-Friedy. "We believe that one of the ways to help dental professionals serve at their best is through the education of the communities and patients they serve."

OralDNA Labs also sponsored the campaign and co-hosted a Fall for Smiles webinar that educated community leaders about Fall for Smiles and provided education about salivary diagnostics. "Fall for Smiles features a message that is important for all Americans to hear--to maintain good oral health even during tough economic times to avoid more expensive problems in the future," said Victoria Richards, Director of Communications and Training at OralDNA Labs. "OralDNA happily sponsored a webinar to help spread that message and help participants learn more about the campaign."

“Without the support of our sponsors, including Hu-Friedy and OralDNA Labs, Fall for Smiles would not be possible,” said Beth Truett, President & CEO, Oral Health America. “We are honored that they chose to support OHA’s  mission to change lives by connecting communities with resources to increase access to oral health care, education and advocacy for all Americans, especially those most vulnerable.” Other Fall for Smiles sponsors include: Aspen Dental; Crest & Oral-B; DentaQuest; Ivoclar Vivadent; the Hispanic Dental Association; Atlantic Precious Metal Refining; the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention; Patterson Dental; Midmark; Oral Healthcare Can’t Wait and Young Dental.
