Knowledgeable Partner Facilitates Success

3DBioCAD helps laboratory stay on the cutting edge

Sean Siegel

Castable Ceramics is a family-owned and -operated, full-service Certified Dental Laboratory with 18 team members. My father co-founded the business in 1986, and I joined the laboratory in the early 2000s before purchasing it in 2009. Over that entire time, we have built a reputation for offering the best products and services for clinicians in the great state of Alaska.

That reputation hinges largely on our commitment to cutting-edge products. We have been using scanners for approximately two decades, and we were the first laboratory in our area to have a CEREC inLab system in 2005.

In 2012, we were introduced to the team at 3DBioCAD as we continued our natural progression through the digital world. I found them to be extremely knowledgeable and easy to work with, so we purchased 3Shape scanners and Roland milling machines through them. In the nearly 8 years since then, 3DBioCAD has become an integral part of our team.

We are in the business of fabricating dental restorations, so it is crucial to be able to have a partner with the technical background and expertise necessary to help us work through challenging scenarios when they arise. 3DBioCAD's team members are not only technical support; they are coaches. They coach us for success. They are always a simple phone call or email away—though they also have visited us in Alaska many times—and they always go the extra mile in answering any questions we have. For example, if we are using nesting software such as MillBox and trying to optimize its efficiency in our workflow, the people at 3DBioCAD are able to offer tips and tricks because they practice what they preach by using these products themselves. That is what truly allows the continuation and advancement of everything we do in our laboratory.

Because our experience with 3DBioCAD has been so great, we are now on our second family of Roland mills and we continue to upgrade our 3Shape scanners. Continuing to integrate the best technology currently available is so important because our job as a laboratory is to stay on the cutting edge to support our direction and our path as we serve our dentists and their patients. Having a resource such as 3DBioCAD to help us do that is priceless.

The age-old adage says that you do not need to know the answer, just where to find it. I definitely consider 3DBioCAD to be part of our team because we can find answers with them.
