Royal Philips, a global leader in health technology is exhibiting at the International Dental Show (IDS) 2023, 14-18 March, Cologne, Germany. Philips celebrates 30 years of its Sonicare innovations. Philips Sonicare is the number-one recommended sonic toothbrush brand by dental professionals worldwide. Its DiamondClean Prestige 9900 with A3 Premium All-in-One brush head is proven to be 20x more effective than a manual toothbrush [2].

Efficient and effective

With its 30 years of experience in creating innovative oral care solutions developed closely with the dental community, Philips Sonicare’s approach has always been to help people achieve a higher degree of oral care at home between dental visits. The two-time 2023 Stiftung Warentest (the best-known and independent German test institute) test winner [1], Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Prestige 9900, has a A3 Premium All-in-One brush head which has angled bristles to help remove up to 20x more plaque versus a manual toothbrush [2]. It is Philips’ most advanced power toothbrush and is effortless and effective, ensuring users always get their oral care right.

“As a true healthcare partner and leader in digital innovation, Philips’ mission is to improve people’s lives – and oral health forms a big part of this,” says Marlies Gebetsberger, Business Marketing Leader Western Europe, Personal Health at Philips. “By putting dental professionals and their patients at the centre of what we do, we’re able to deliver complete and cutting-edge, personalized and connected oral care solutions that empower people to achieve a healthy mouth efficiently and effectively, between dental visits. Through personalized technology, for example, we’re able to help people easily adopt healthier brushing behaviors at home. Take the Sonicare DiamondClean Prestige 9900 – it comes with an AI-powered app which gives real-time guidance and personalized recommendations to improve users’ brushing habits.”

Supporting the connection between oral and overall health

Philips has always been supportive of the connection between oral and overall health and champions the World Health Organization adopting a landmark resolution in 2021 which underpins that maintaining a healthy mouth can reduce your chances of developing wider health issues. The resolution also highlights the importance of preventing oral diseases through both regular dental check-ups and good brushing at home.

Working with a global network of trusted partners including scientific experts, research institutes and dental professionals, Philips is committed to raising awareness about the importance oral healthcare. To find out the public's knowledge of the connection between oral health and cardiovascular disease, the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation and Philips Sonicare commissioned a Sifo survey in January 2023, which shows that half the Swedish population does not know that there might be a connection. One in ten stated that their dentist or dental hygienist told them about the connection [3].

Philips also supports ORANGEFORCE – a three-year program with around 80 patient organizations, which focuses on the elderly. Many elderly people do not go to the dentist often enough, whereas their oral health is at risk of developing periodontitis or even diabetes or pre-diabetes. Early detection is key and therefore Philips supports this great initiative. Together, we will continue to raise awareness of the importance of oral health, to improve people's lives.
