Nobel Biocare’s Multi-unit Abutment Plus

Snap-fit function eliminates need for screws during try-in process

More than 15 years ago, Nobel Biocare began producing its original Multi-unit Abutment. An industry first, this product had a significant impact on patient treatment and started the trend for restoring multiple teeth using tilted implant placement that is now backed by a wealth of clinical evidence. Presently, Nobel Biocare has improved upon the concept with the introduction of the new Multi-unit Abutment Plus.

Like its predecessor, the Multi-unit Abutment Plus allows for the tilting of the two posterior implants, meaning longer implants can be positioned in the anterior bone instead of in the posterior where the bone is often resorbed. This increases bone-to-implant contact and reduces the need for vertical bone augmentation. Tilting the implants also reduces cantilevers, improving support for the prostheses. Furthermore, tilting the implants helps avoid critical nerve structures and the maxillary sinus, which makes for a less invasive and more efficient procedure.

The Multi-unit Abutment Plus increases efficiency by incorporating an innovative snap-fit function. This product is designed to substantially reduce the chair time required to perform a denture conversion–a procedure commonly used in the All-on-4® treatment concept. By introducing a snap-fit function between the temporary snap coping on the Multi-unit Plus and the abutment, screws are no longer required during the try-in process. This means the common practice of removing the temporary cylinders and the denture several times during the conversion process can be done in a few snaps, with no need to tighten and loosen four screws each time. Beyond providing a significant time-saving opportunity for the clinician, this feature eliminates any worry about the screws potentially dropping out and can also dramatically increase patient comfort.

Nobel Biocare implants are designed to offer primary stability at a level that allows the restoration to be placed immediately. The TiUnite surface and patented grooves then help maintain this stability during osseointegration. Combining Nobel Biocare’s Multi-unit Abutment Plus with the All-on-4® treatment concept allows many edentulous and soon-to-be edentulous patients to leave the dental surgery with a full set of teeth and renewed self-confidence.

Although it is only one part of Nobel Biocare’s All-on-4® treatment concept, the Multi-unit Abutment plays a very big role. Without it, this innovative and effective solution for edentulous and soon-to-be edentulous patients would not be possible. The new Multi-unit Abutment Plus offers all of the same benefits as the original, enhanced by a more efficient workflow. It’s the supporting act that allows the All-on-4® treatment concept to play the starring role.

•New snap-fit function can substantially reduce chair time
•Designed for immediate restoration placement
•A key component of the original, proven All-on-4® treatment concept
•Can significantly increase patient comfort
