Prime&Bond Elect® Universal Adhesive

A reliable, convenient universal adhesive for any etching technique

Figure 1 | Creating a strong bond between restorative material and a tooth can be challenging because enamel and dentin must be handled separately. On enamel, acid-etching with phosphoric acid creates a strong and durable bond, but on dentin, judicious use of phosphoric acid or use of self-etch adhesive technology may be advisable to prevent negative outcomes like postoperative sensitivity. Developed to provide clinicians with a one-bottle solution for all etching situations (total-etch, self-etch, or selective-etch), Prime&Bond Elect® Universal Dental Adhesive gives the operator flexibility to use the most appropriate etching technique for the type of remaining tooth structure.

Built on the clinically proven chemistry of the Prime&Bond® NT™ Dental Adhesive System, one of the world’s most widely used and clinically tested adhesives, Prime&Bond Elect uses the same unique PENTA chemistry, which uses micro-mechanical and chemical bonding to provide consistent, long-term bond strength performance.

The unique chemistry of Prime&Bond Elect provides consistently high bond strengths, low film thickness, and virtually no postoperative sensitivity. When selective-etching at the enamel-dentin junction, it is crucial to avoid over-etching the dentin. Using Prime&Bond Elect with Caulk® 34% Tooth Conditioner Gel can deliver excellent application control to help minimize dentin exposure. For times when dentin is unavoidably exposed to phosphoric acid during selective enamel etching, using Prime&Bond Elect provides confidence that bond strengths and postoperative patient comfort will not be compromised.

Prime&Bond Elect also provides a low film thickness at the resin-dentin and resin-enamel interfaces for increased cavity adaptation. Thick adhesives have a tendency to pool in the corners of the preparation. These adhesive pools can show up as translucent areas on a radiograph, which can easily be misdiagnosed as a void, gap, or secondary decay that causes clinicians to question whether or not the restoration is compromised.

Indications for Prime&Bond Elect include direct, light-cured restorations as well as indirect restorations. When used with the Self-Cure Activator, Prime&Bond Elect Adhesive is suitable for use with dual-cure core build-up and cement materials.
