Spear Introduces State-of-the-Art Patient Education

Innovative animations easily explain treatment options

Figure 1 | All clinicians have faced the challenge of trying to communicate a condition or procedure to patients in a manner that demonstrates value to them. A connection is vital in that moment because if patients do not understand their treatment, they may not choose to accept it. According to Spear’s independent market research, 91% of those who saw a video during case presentation said it positively influenced their decision to accept treatment.

For this reason, Spear created new patient education resources that are currently a component of the Spear Online platform. Spear's renowned faculty and team of animators created a series of state-of-the-art, high-definition animations that clearly and concisely present a wide range of conditions and procedures in an easily understood format. An independent research firm tested the videos with prospective patients to assure that they were balanced, clear, and accurate.

By using these animations to communicate how procedures are performed as well as the consequences of declining treatment, patients and their dentist can focus on why their treatment is important.

Spear made the videos adaptable to various platforms, so no matter where patients watch them—in the office, at home, or on the go—they will be able to view a high-quality product. In conjunction with Spear’s current assets, including the expansive course library with over 800 lessons, comprehensive staff training, and team meeting resources, the new patient education platform will further facilitate patient understanding and will provide a complete education and practice management resource.
