Crest® Oral-B® Clinical Pro-Health™ System for Gingivitis

Procter & Gamble introduces patient-based solutions with new complete line of home care products designed to help eliminate gingivitis altogether.

Crest® Oral-B® recently introduced the Clinical Pro-Health™ System for Gingivitis, clinically tested to virtually eliminate gingivitis (data on file*, Procter & Gamble). With routine dental check-ups and regular use, patients with mild to moderate, persistent gingivitis can reduce inflammation and bleeding, and significantly improve their gum health.

“It's our mission to offer solutions to meet every patients' oral care needs and be a resource and partner to dental health professionals,” said Ann Hochman, marketing director for Crest Oral-B. “Our patient-based approach helps us develop targeted, innovative solutions for varying patient types, and include distinct, complete regimens in the plaque, whitening, orthodontics, pediatric and, most recently, gingivitis categories.”

The inspiration behind Crest Oral-B's latest patient-based solution stems from the fact that one out of two American adults suffers from gingivitis. In fact, 33% of Americans still believe that having “a little bleeding during brushing and flossing” is normal. The Clinical Pro-Health System for Gingivitis is a revolutionary oral care regimen that offers the highest level of protection to help eliminate gingivitis altogether, breaking the cycle of gingival inflammation and gingival bleeding for patients.

“The System includes Crest Pro-Health Clinical Gum Protection toothpaste, with newly balanced stabilized stannous fluoride chemistry that provides an increase in antibacterial power, resulting in our highest level of protection against plaque bacteria that cause gingivitis and helps reverse it after 4 weeks of regular use,” said Dr. Robert Gerlach, DDS, MPH, Research Fellow, P&G Worldwide Clinical Investigations. “With this System for Gingivitis we have found in a clinical study an extraordinary 95% reduction in the number of bleeding sites after 6 weeks of treatment when compared to control group that used regular anti-cavity toothpaste and soft manual toothbrush after a dental prophylaxis at baseline [data on file, P&G]. To break the cycle of this all too prevalent disease, Crest Oral-B is introducing a regimen specially designed for patients with recurring gingivitis.”

The Clinical Pro-Health System for Gingivitis helps break the cycle of gingival inflammation and gingival bleeding for improved oral health in patients with mild to moderate, persistent gingivitis (Table 1 and Figure 1).
