DentalCAD®: A Powerful Solution to Facilitate Digital Workflows

Whether he's treating a patient or animatedly explaining an aspect of removable prosthodontics behind the lectern, Joseph J. Massad, DDS, applies the same level of passion. "The most important thing for our patients is to provide a comfortable and accurate prosthetic," says the long-time practitioner and dental instructor.

"Whether you are doing analog or digital dentistry, consistency is imperative."

Massad, who has been in practice since 1975 and started restoring dental implants in 1986, is an internationally renowned clinician in the field of prosthodontics, and he has lectured literally around the world, regularly addressing meetings of such dental organizations as the American Prosthodontic Society, American Dental Association, Canadian Dental Association, Federation Dentaire International, and Portuguese Dental Association. He currently is working with exocad to create learning materials so that the master communicator's insights can be disseminated even more broadly.

"I have worked with exocad to produce a step-by-step video tutorial for technicians and dentists to provide the best experience and ease of manipulation of the software," he says. "With my background of 45 years in making dentures and overdentures, the excellence of exocad in digital software makes this experience understandable and easy to operate."

exocad's DentalCAD® is a leading OEM-branded dental CAD software that can be easily integrated with any existing equipment, like open scanners, 3D printers, or milling machines. It is known for its speedy operation and ease of use, helping to minimize training costs and maximize productivity. "The software is very easy to learn and flows very nicely. It's uncomplicated," Massad says. "I like the feature of printing directly from the CBCT by exporting the STL file-especially when I'm doing a CBCT, I can print the denture."

Massad is committed to teaching only about products and procedures that he has vetted in his own practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma, because for him it all comes down to the dental patient experience. exocad, he says, allows him to point at the screen and show his patients exactly what is happening in even the most complicated of cases, with the software offering visual corroboration.

"We can show the patient where the jaw is and where the prosthetic is, allowing them to know why bone may need to be reduced for the prosthetic," Massad explains. "exocad is a great tool for removable dentures, overdentures, and fixed dentures when looking for either averaging or open neuromuscular methods."

As someone who is considered an innovator and visionary in the field of dentistry and, particularly, removable prosthodontics, Massad remains focused on the future. "Now that we have this technology, it would be difficult to go backward because it offers to us so much vital information, leading to the optimal final result," he says.
