Venus White

Professional whitening’s prospects—and profits—are still bright

Lee Ann Brady, DMD

Anyone who bet that over-the-counter whitening products would kill the professional whitening business couldn't have been more wrong. Whitening is still the most requested cosmetic procedure in dental practices, and in our office, whitening production and profits continue to be very robust. We've been loyal to Kulzer's Venus White whitening products for three main reasons. First and foremost, our patients are thrilled with the results we're able to achieve for them. Second, patients are able to get these results while experiencing little or no sensitivity. And third, Venus White's suite of products offers a wide range of strengths. My team loves that Venus White can be ordered and serviced by leading dental distributors instead of having to be purchased directly, which gives us the convenience of one-stop shopping.

Venus White's three whitening options provide us with the flexibility to meet every patient's needs. Venus White Ultra is a convenient take-home option that requires no chair time and opens the doors to Venus White's two more advanced options. Each Venus White Ultra disposable tray is prefilled with mint flavored hydrogen peroxide gel in one of two strengths (ie, 11.2% or 15%). The trays are ultra-thin for a secure fit and maximum comfort. Venus White Ultra is a daily treatment that can be used for up to 7 days, but achieves visibly whiter teeth in just 3 days.

Venus White Pro is a high performance whitening option featuring custom take-home trays. A University of Texas study found that Venus White Pro can make a patient's smile up to 8.4 "shades" whiter with virtually no sensitivity, and that's certainly consistent with our experience. The lack of sensitivity is due to its use of potassium nitrate. Full patient kits, refill kits, and 50-syringe packs are available in three strengths of carbamide peroxide (ie, 16%, 22% and 35%).

Venus White Max involves three or four 15-minute, in-office treatments with 38% hydrogen peroxide gel. Syringe-to-syringe mixing chemically activates the product, ensuring a thorough blend and maximum freshness. Like Venus White Pro, Venus White Max contains potassium nitrate to minimize the sensitivity normally associated with bleaching. The whitening results are exceptional, and they can be sustained after the in-office treatments by having patients take home either the Venus White Pro custom trays or the Venus White Ultra prefilled disposable trays.

Our office utilizes Kulzer's extensive array of patient brochures, posters, videos, and other materials to promote Venus White's outstanding product performance to our patients. My staff and I also appreciate the fact that over the years, Venus White has donated more than $500,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
