ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Jack D. Griffin, Jr., DMD
Dr. Jack D. Griffin is one of the most honored and awarded dentists in the country. Dr. Griffin is one of a hand-full of dentists awarded by his peers Diplomat status with the American Board of Aesthetic Dentistry (ABAD), accreditation with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), and Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD).

He considers it a great honor to have been asked to teach many dentists across the country how to meet their professional goals in various topics including practice management, digital photography, direct bonding techniques, cosmetic veneers, and CAD/CAM dentistry. He has lectured at many prestigious meetings and has been published in leading dental journals.

Dr. Griffin graduated dental school from Southern Illinois University, where he received a student dentistry awards and then went on to complete a general dentistry residency at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, with an emphasis in advanced dental care in restorative dentistry, emergency care, implants, oral surgery, and special patient care. Dr. Griffin began his dental practice in Eureka in 1988.

Dr. Griffin is affiliated with many professional organizations including the following: American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Society for Dental Esthetics, American Orthodontic Society, International Association for Orthodontics, American Association for Functional Orthodontics, American Association of Implant Dentistry, Academy of Computerized Dentistry, and other professional organizations. He has taken over 2,000 hours of continuing education since graduating dental school and his commitment to keep learning keeps him at the top of his profession.

James G. Kouzoukian, DDS
Dr. James G. Kouzoukian, known to his family of patients as “Dr. K,” graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1984. He received supplemental training in cancer diagnosis and treatment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in Manhattan and additional training in trauma, injury repair and advanced pathology treatment at Woodhull General Hospital in Brooklyn. He initiated his own private practice in 1989 in Queens.
 
Dr. Kouzoukian represented the dental profession at a day long symposium aimed at educating vocal professionals (those who use their voice for their livelihood) when he delivered a seminar on TMJ dysfunction. He has performed non-invasive procedures to stem the debilitating effects of this often undiagnosed condition for many years, his services being requested by many Ear, Nose and Throat physicians for their patients. Dr. Kouzoukian’s clientele includes many stage and screen performers including actors, singers, dancers and musicians (you’ll see why in a moment!).
 
He is an active member of the Queens County Dental Society of the American Dental Association. He actively keeps on top of recent advancements in dental research by attending ongoing educational courses in all areas of dentistry and he has been recognized by the dental society for the hundreds of hours he has dedicated for this purpose.
 
Dr. Kouzoukian also has extensive experience as an expert witness in many different types of legal proceedings involving dentistry. He has performed research, prepared detailed written reports and given expert courtroom testimony on no-fault, personal injury and dental malpractice cases. On countless occasions he has assisted attorneys in protecting the interests of patients who have received substandard dental treatment. He has also treated many of these extremely apprehensive patients, restoring their function, alleviating their discomfort and reconstructing their smile in addition to re-establishing their confidence in the professional delivery of dental care. Dr. K is unafraid to voice his opinion in the interests of his patients!

Gerard Kugel, DMD, MS, PhD
Dr. Gerard Kugel, is the Associate Dean for Research, and Professor of Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. With an expertise in Clinical Research and Esthetic Dentistry, he is a reviewer for The New England Journal of Medicine, JADA, The Journal of Dental Materials, and the Journal of Prosthodontics. He is on the Editorial Board of the Clinical Dentistry & Research, The Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry, and Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry. He is a Fellow in the American and International Colleges of Dentistry as well as the Academy of General Dentistry and the Academy of Dental Materials. Dr. Kugel is on the Board of Directors of the CR Foundation, and has his M.S. in Anatomy and Cellular Biology and his Ph.D. in Dental Materials. He received his Executive Certificate in Management from the MIT Sloan School of Business in 2009.

Dr. Kugel has published over 130 articles and over 250 abstracts in the field of restorative materials and techniques. He lectures extensively both nationally and internationally. Dr. Kugel is part of a group practice, the Boston Center for Oral Health, located in Back Bay, Boston.

G. Franklin Shull, DMD
Dr. Shull is a native of Lexington, South Carolina and is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and the Medical University of South Carolina School of Dentistry. Following dental school, he completed a General Practice Residency at Palmetto Health Richland.  

Dr. Shull is both a past president of the Greater Columbia Dental Association and the SC Academy of General Dentistry.  He is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and is a faculty member at Palmetto Health Richland Department of Dentistry and the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry.  Dr. Shull is also on the teaching faculty at the L.D. Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida where he teaches dentists from all around the world about esthetic dentistry.  He has been published in many dental journals and recently contributed to a textbook on comprehensive dentistry.  

Dr. Shull lectures throughout the U.S. on esthetics, dental materials and photography. He lives in Lexington with his wife, son and daughter and enjoys golf and coaching youth sports.


Clint D. Stevens, DDS
Dr. Clint Stevens graduated from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center San Antonio and completed a one year advanced education in general dentistry residency at the University of Michigan. He is engaged in ongoing laboratory and clinical research dealing with adhesive restorative materials, digital dentistry workflows, endodontics and dental implants. He serves as a key opinion leader and consultant for product development and evaluation to several dental manufacturers. He has utilized chairside CAD/CAM for 10 years and has extensive experience with Planmeca FIT. Stevens maintains a full-time private practice in Tulsa, Okla., that emphasizes the use of modern, evidence-based materials in providing the highest level of comprehensive dental care.

Martin Trope, DMD
Dr. Martin Trope was born in Johannesburg, South Africa where he received his BDS degree in dentistry in 1976. From 1976 to 1980 he practiced General Dentistry and Endodontics. In 1980 he moved to Philadelphia to specialize in Endodontics at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating as an Endodontist he continued at the University of Pennsylvania as a faculty member until 1989 when he became Chair of Endodontology at Temple University, School of Dentistry. In 1993 he accepted the JB Freedland Professorship in the Department of Endodontics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Dentistry.  Named in honor of one of the founding fathers of Endodontics, the Freedland Professorship recognizes significant contributions to the specialty. In 2014, he was awarded the Jens Ove Andreasen Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Dental Traumatology.

Dr. Trope is Clinical Professor, Department of Endodontics, School of Dental Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He is also in private practice in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

CDEWorld reserves the right to close registration when an enrollment limit is reached and to cancel, modify, or alter content or speakers for any course if circumstances necessitate such a change. If we find it necessary to cancel a course, a full refund will be granted. All attempts to contact registrants will be made as soon as possible in the event of a course cancellation. 

In the event of inclement weather (such as a snow emergency) or other extenuating circumstances, CDEWorld may be forced to cancel a course. If a course has been cancelled, we will contact participants by the phone number and/or email address provided. You may call or email our office on the day of the course if you are uncertain of a course’s status.

A full refund will be granted to those cancelling (by telephone or email) 48 or more hours in advance of the event. CDEWorld will not be held responsible for any losses due to travel arrangements made by the registrant.
