Digital Denture Symposium

Some of the latest developments in digital dentistry have come in the arena of removables, and those will be on display at the IDT International Digital Denture Symposium, September 28-29, at the Sheraton Grand Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona. The event, which sold out last year, will feature a day and a half of live collaborative education for both dentists and dental laboratory technicians. A total of 14 CE credits will be available.

"Digital disruption is penetrating nearly all industries across the globe, and dentistry is no exception," says Ricarda Jansen, DDS, director of clinical and educational affairs for Dentsply Sirona, one of the platinum supporters along with AvaDent Digital Dental Solutions and AEGIS Dental Network. "What an exciting time it is to see technology, productivity, and efficiency being added to our daily routines. Clinicians and laboratories alike have embraced the benefits of digital design and fabrication methods for crowns, bridges, and now, even digital dentures. At the symposium, you will meet experts, dentists, and laboratory specialists who have embraced this technological disruption, learned from it, and developed workflows to make it more reliable and successful-for all users."

The symposium will begin at 8:00 am Friday, September 28, with a keynote presentation from Valerie Cooper, DDS, MS, entitled "How Digital Dentures Change EVERYTHING." Cooper, who has been nicknamed "The Denture Queen," also lectured at last year's symposium in Baltimore, Maryland.

"I look forward to sharing more about how digital dentures are truly a revolution, yet we are maintaining our focus on the classic principles of removable prosthodontics," Cooper says. "We can help make removable prosthodontics a better solution for dentists, clinics, laboratories, and patients."

Cooper's lecture will be followed by two more general sessions. Stephen Campbell, DDS, MMSc, will present "Evidence-Based Research into the Efficacy of Digital Denture Materials and Clinical Outcomes" at 9:00 am. Lyndon Cooper, DDS, and Lee Culp, CDT, will present "Digital Dentures, a Unique Modular Approach" at 9:45 am.

Following a networking break, during which the trade show exhibits will be open, attendees will be directed to their preselected courses for the first workshop series at 11:00 am. Then, there will be one more general session before lunch. The second workshop series will start at 2:00 pm, followed by another networking break, and then the third workshop series.

At 4:30 pm, Vincent Verderosa, CDT, will present "Digital Dentures Resolving Problems: A Case Study Review," and the first day's education portion will conclude with laboratory owner BJ Kowalski's presentation, "Technology on the Horizon: Advances in Digital Denture Production from Traditional Dentures to Full-Arch Reconstructions," at 5:15 pm. A networking cocktail reception will be held from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

Saturday starts with breakfast at 7:00 am, followed by keynote speaker Stephen Wagner, DDS, presenting "Managing Patient Expectations for Digital Denture Success" at 8:00 am. Alexander Wünsche, CDT, will present "Achieving Esthetics" at 9:00 am before a networking break and then the final workshop series.

At 11:15 am, Michael Scherer, DDS, will present "3D Printing Workflows for Removable and Fixed Complete Dentures." A panel discussion will follow at noon, and the symposium concludes with a networking luncheon at 12:45 pm.

Complete information about each workshop series is available at: idds.cdeworld.com. Registrants will be asked to select one workshop from each of the four series.

"Now that digital denture technology is here to stay, dental professionals need to learn how to implement it into their approaches to treatment," says Jan Slor, executive vice president of platinum supporter AvaDent Digital Denture Solutions. "Attending this unique symposium will give them the opportunity to learn from the experiences of colleagues who have already integrated these technologies. The lectures and workshops will highlight the pros and cons, and the exhibition will show the attendees all of the currently available technologies. IDDS provides all the information that dental professionals need to make an educated decision."
